Updates

03/30/2023

Please read the update from the 29th as well. Zito has been between 100-600Mbps for the past three weeks, but today it has decided to tank once again. This screenshot is a test of a hardwired client in the evening on 3-30-23. I will be emailing executives at Zito first thing in the morning to see if they'll actually resolve the problem once & for all.

Zito is still continuing to sell customers 1Gbps download speeds, when they aren't actually providing near those numbers. Zito always wants you to test with Fast.com because they have perferred routes to the servers. Fast.com will show 1.4Gbps (1400Mbps), while the limits of the 1GBE ethernet port on your computer is actually limited to around 940Mbps with TCP overhead.

If you use Speedtest.net, you can see the 940Mbps on very few servers, as these are the ones with preferred routes to them. A preferred route is when Zito priorities the traffic over other lower priority data. I know they're prioritizing speed test traffic, as no real-world files download near 1Gbps. You can download test files at https://www.turnkeyinternet.net/speed-test/. You can also download MacOS as a test file at https://IPSW.me/.

Both sites listed above are capable of serving the files at 1Gbps or higher. This is proven when downloading from Comcast, or Centurylink 1Gbps or higher plans, as the downloads hit over 100MB/s or 1Gbps every time. When downloading on Zito's 1Gbps plan, the files never download faster than 60MB/s or roughly 600Mbps. The file downloads vary too seeing speeds as low as 16MB/s or 160Mbps.

I've also shared billing statements from last month & this current month. They've thrown the modem charge back on, even though their techs took my Zito modem to "troubleshoot it" to which I haven't heard back in 3 weeks now. I was also told I would be on the promotional price for 6 months due to not getting my speeds for over 9 months now. The bill for Feb was lowered, but the bill for March is now back to full price with a modem rental that I don't have....  Zito's speeds are highlighted on the right Downloads screenshot, with CenturyLink's on the left. You'll see Zito even fails completely sometimes. Same file. Same server. Same router. Same Ethernet wires. Zito is advertising 1Gbps to the internet, not 1Gbps to a few speed test servers and "whatever is left" to the actual internet....

The beginning of a site to collect complaints & stats from Zito customers, to then make our voices heard by the FCC.
